《Botanical Dyeing》
Inspired by the collection’s theme, “Blue Hour - Moonlight Indigo -.”
The mystical world of color is expressed through botanical dyes.
・col.04 Ivory: Bamboo Dye
Bamboo is associated with images of honesty and clarity, as expressed in the Japanese phrase “as clear as bamboo.”
It is a familiar plant that grows exceptionally fast, and because of its boundless fertility, it has become a symbol of growth and prosperity and is used for New Year decorations and lucky charms.
Due to its high fertility, bamboo is harvested frequently to control its growth, and the bamboo cut for this purpose was reused to create the dye.
The pure white revealed when bamboo is split is expressed through dyeing, capturing a hue that evokes vitality and integrity beneath its whiteness.
・col.20 Navy: Lapis Lazuli + Black Silica Dye
(Lapis lazuli is used to evoke deep indigo illuminated by moonlight)
One of the oldest gemstones to be cherished by humanity alongside emeralds and turquoise.
It was also the first stone recognized worldwide as a power stone and is said to ward off evil spirits and misfortune.
Its color is expressed in various ways, including “indigo blue,” a dark, deep “midnight blue,” and an ocean-like “marine blue,” but perhaps the most accurate description is “a deep blue reminiscent of the mystical night sky.”
To express this unique “blue,” the lapis lazuli was finely crushed to 0.5 μm, creating a beautiful, even dye.
・col.40 Green: Matcha Dye
(Uses traditional Japanese matcha)
Tea was brought to Japan from China by envoys to the Tang Dynasty, after which it developed into Japan’s unique tea culture and continues to this day.
Today, matcha is highly popular not only in Japan but around the world.
Its popularity is certainly due to the Japanese food boom and health consciousness, but it also seems to stem from its visual appeal, including its distinctive hue.
Because green, or matcha color, has a calming effect, it may be deeply appealing to people’s hearts.
We bring you a fusion of this soothing hue and the relaxing mood created by pas de calais.
Due to the nature of the dyeing process, color transfer may occur from rain, perspiration, or friction. Please also note that color transfer may occur when worn with light-colored items.
